Choosing to work for yourself sounds so romantic and, somewhat easy, right?
I mean, everywhere you look these days all you hear about are success stories of online overnighters and the temptation to jump in is way too strong.
The thing is, you sometimes hear the behind-the-scene story of these successes, however not the whole story. I want to dive even deeper than the hard work that goes behind a great success story.
I want to get to the nitty gritty of choosing the right path of self-employment to start with in the first place. Because let’s face it, working for oneself is kind of like becoming a professional athlete, it’s simply not for everyone. And a lot of times it’s not having all the options in front of you to make the right steps.
However, there are more choices out there than you realize.
Some people are made to hustle and bustle. Networking here and there. Many sticking to the It’s-not-what-you-know-but-
And for many industries this holds super true.
But, what if you’re not one of those people. What if you don’t want to rely on ‘who you know’ but simply find a path where that isn’t necessary?
I was one of those people.
The thought of networking, searching for clients or customers, talking up my biz day in and day out felt daunting, overwhelming and just plain tiring.
Yet, I soooo knew that I wanted to work for me, on my time and from anywhere in the world.

I know, those two words alone ignite so many different emotions and feelings – and after doing it for so many years, I can guarantee you that 90% of them aren’t true.

- You will need to learn what to do in your business – how to build it, how to grow it, etc…
- You will need to take classes to start your business in the right direction. You can’t simply jump in without knowing anything, how will you move in the right direction?
- You will need to invest money in your business either a storefront or online presence
- You will need to spend plenty of time marketing yourself either via sweat equity or spending money on publicity and promotion – one way or another you will need to get your name or your business’s name out for the public because we all know ‘If you build it they WON’T come’
When you do the math for all this, you are investing anywhere between $3,000 to $20,000 – depending on the business and your commitment to your own training. And not to mention countless of hours.
Did you know it takes way less money than that to start day trading? And half the energy.
Busting Through Misconceptions that Cloud Day Trading – And Why So Many People Are Too Nervous to Take That Route
Before I bust the myths and stigmas about Day Trading, and give you the full lowdown let’s look at the TRUE BENEFITS of being a day trader.
- You work only a few hours a day and earn what you would, and usually more, for full time work
- You can work from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connection
- You work for you and no one else
- You don’t have to look for clients, or customers or people to move your business forward. It is all about you, you are fully in control of everything
These are only a few reasons to dig deeper into Day Trading, there are many many more.
Busting Open the Misconceptions
- Huge upfront investment – When I started my day trading journey, for me to open up a broker’s account for my day trading I needed $500. I trade Futures which is much less upfront money than you would have if you wanted to be a stock trader. But I won’t lie, for good trading mobility you should have around $2000.
- Only math whizzes and financial experts can day trade successfully – this one is my favorite lies because it couldn’t be further from the truth. Before I became a full-time trader, and by full-time I mean 2-3 hours a day, I was a professional fitness instructor and then a travel writer (travel for me is essential and I have been searching for work that gives me freedom to do it whenever, however I want). Bottom line – Anyone can do it.
- Screens, screens and more screens – again, this is something that had boggled my mind for years. I have been trading now for almost 5 years and I’ve had my laptop all this time as my main screen. And I take it everywhere I go.
- Stress – the most ironic thing that happened to me, and one that I never ever thought would happen via day trading – I found my spirituality. To be a good day trader one needs to practice mindfulness to the power of a million. And when you are mindful in your trading practice, your whole world is greatly affected for the better and you, in turn, become a better person.
What I have discovered whenever I tell people that I am a day trader and convince them that most of the stuff they have thought about day trading is totally untrue, isn’t the real reason they don’t start.
The reality is they simply don’t know where to start. They don’t have any idea how to read the markets, how to set up their charts or understanding basic lingo.
Nowadays, whenever I’m not trading, I love to help people find their way and show them how simple it is. And to teach them the language of market reading.
To me, day trading has changed me in so many ways, and the fact that it is an overlooked field simply due to the uncertainty of what it truly is, needs to change so more and more people can become day traders and have freedom and relaxation!
